Red Friars is a private dance group
that meets at the Iowa State University Memorial Union south ballroom
and dances to live bands which play the big band sound. Dances can
include Swing, Rumba, Fox Trot, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Tango, Polka, and Mambo
as well as some others.
The elegance of the ballroom and music is reflected by the members who
attend wearing evening attire—evening or cocktail wear for women
and dinner jacket, tuxedo, or business suit for men.
Although a private club, we welcome guests. If you are interested in
joining us for a wonderful evening click on the membership button at
left.
Founded in 1934, the Fall of 2007 marks the beginning of the Red
Friars' 73rd year as a club. Red Friars Dance Club was incorporated as
a non-profit corporation on February 12, 1991.
